HUMAN DEVELOPMENT, PERCEIVED EMPLOYABILITY AND INTENTION TO STAY IN THE IT SECTOR

Authors

Abstract

This research aimed to analyze the relationship between the professional development opportunities offered to employees, the perceived employability and the intention to remain in the organization in the information technology (IT) sector. As a method of data collection, the survey was used and the research sample was composed of 314 professionals employed in the IT sector. For data treatment, the Structural Equation Modeling technique was used. Analyzing the results obtained, it was found that, in the IT sector, the perceived internal employability of employees increases when the organization provides them with opportunities for professional development, making their intention to stay also increase. Thus, although the existence of a direct relationship between the opportunities for professional development offered to employees and the intention to remain in the organization has not been ratified, it was found that there is an indirect relationship between them, mediated by perceived internal employability.
