Abstract

Manufacturing companies have been looking for differentiation in the market by offering services. This process, called servitization, poses challenges to manufacturing. One of the factors associated with the success of the process is the investment in dynamic capabilities, especially those that support innovation in services. These capabilities are developed to meet value expectations and are influenced by protocols, rules and laws in the context to which they are linked. In this essay we present a methodology capable of helping to identify these dynamic capabilities, based on the challenges of companies. We use the service ecosystems approach to investigate how the manufacturing context interferes with value expectations and service delivery. Depending on the characteristics of the manufacturing company, it is assumed that the required dynamic capabilities are specific to support a more customer-oriented process and will be referred to here as dynamic servitization capabilities.
