Dream or rationality?
WHAT PREDOMINATES AMONG MEN AND WOMEN WHEN DECIDING ON FINANCIAL INVESTMENTS

This study aimed to evaluate the process of judgment and attribution of meaning in the choice of banking services between men and women, examining whether this choice is predominantly sentimental or rational. The universe of research comprises investors in the Federal District. Thus, the research is characterized as descriptive in nature, and to understand the phenomenon under study, a quantitative method was employed, incorporating multivariate data analysis. The research instrument used was the Judgment and Meaning scale, tested, validated, and adapted for service judgment. The scale provides for four factors: affective judgment, step-by-step judgment, symbolic attribution of meaning and utilitarian attribution of meaning. It was observed that there was a predominance of step-by-step judgment and utilitarian meaning; however, women stand out for presenting a vocation for decisions that consider the affectivity and utility of the product as a whole. Therefore, the decisions of the financial investor are based on objective, tangible attributes, on rational choices, with effective conceptual clarity, and using logic.
