REFLEXÕES E RESULTADOS DA EXTENSÃO UNIVERSÍTÁRIA NA EDUCAÇÃO INDUSTRIAL

Abstract

The outreach project called “Industrial Awakening” aimed to bring high school graduates closer to industries in the electromechanical and metalworking sector in the city of Passo Fundo/RS. The industrial sector has suffered significantly from the shortage of qualified labor, evidenced by the large number of job openings that are difficult to fill in the region. In addition, there is a mistaken perception regarding the industrial environment, believing that it does not offer good opportunities for personal and professional growth, and that it is an environment that impedes the exercise of creativity or innovation. To mitigate this problem, training seminars in Soft and Hard Skills were held, as well as visits to partner industries, in order to learn about the production process and activities of the various sectors, thus awakening interest in a career in the area of ​​production and transformation of materials. Finally, the outreach project created a connection between industries, academia and schools, providing significant development in the public speaking, metrology and emotional intelligence skills of the students involved. Furthermore, it was observed that some participants identified with the sector, expressing interest in qualification and future professional activity.
