20/02/2026

Meritum Journal, a scientific publication of the Postgraduate Program in Law (PPGD) at FUMEC University (Master's level), has once again achieved an excellent result in the evaluation by the Coordination for the Improvement of Higher Education Personnel (CAPES), for the period 2021 to 2024. The journal remained in the elite group of scientific journals, receiving an A4 rating.

The Meritum journal is characterized by disseminating knowledge generated from legal investigations that contribute to the training of professionals with critical legal awareness, qualified not only to practice legal technique, but also to think about Law in its scientific, philosophical, historical, sociological and political aspects.

Since February 2020, the Meritum journal has been coordinated by editors Professors Dr. Adriano da Silva Ribeiro and Dr. Sérgio Henriques Zandona Freitas, in a management that was responsible for improving the institutional journal's classification from "B" to "A".

In the evaluation system used by CAPES, journals are classified into strata indicative of quality, with A1 being the highest, followed in descending order by A2, A3, A4, B1, B2, B3, B4, and C, with the latter having zero weight in the evaluation.
