EDITORIAL
The Postgraduate Program in Law (PPGD) at FUMEC University (Master's level) presents the Meritum Journal, a traditional and leading legal journal (Qualis-Capes A3), to the academic community, with the mission of being an effective instrument for the dissemination of scientific work developed in Brazil and abroad, in accordance with the research lines "Private Autonomy, Regulation and Strategy" and "Public Sphere, Legitimacy, Control".
The upward profile and quality of the Master's Program in Law at FUMEC University were attested by the evaluation carried out by the Coordination for the Improvement of Higher Education Personnel – CAPES, in which it obtained a grade of 4 (four).
The Meritum journal is characterized by disseminating knowledge generated from legal investigations that contribute to the training of professionals with critical legal awareness, qualified not only for the exercise of legal technique, but also to think about Law in its scientific, philosophical, historical, sociological and political aspects.
In a critical, autonomous, and pluralistic manner, this issue addresses various themes and problems within the legal universe related to the Democratic Rule of Law and the realization of rights. It seeks to analyze and debate perspectives that help to critically interpret our contemporary world and the challenges that arise from it.
Regarding the first edition of 2025, the articles submitted to the Meritum Journal, volume 20, were evaluated by the Editorial Coordination, which examined their suitability to the journal's editorial line, elementary and advanced formal and methodological aspects, among others. Subsequently, each text was sent to at least two reviewers, through a double-blind peer review system, for analysis of form and content, as well as the issuance of their opinion.
On this occasion, the Editors pay tribute and express their gratitude to all who contributed to this commendable initiative of FUMEC University and, in particular, to all the authors who participated in this publication, highlighting the commitment and seriousness demonstrated in the research carried out and in the elaboration of excellent texts.
